Winter Wonderland.

... well, not quite. The Gold Coast is far from a Winter wonderland. Our winter is more like an English summer. Anyway, I wish it was cold enough to wear coats like these. We get the occasional late night that deems coats appropriate and if you get up early enough I suppose you can get away with them too. However, I can still dream and Vogue Australia has picked out the best five styles from this season.

The overcoat
With a distinctive masculine edge, a slimline overcoat in camel is the classicist’s choice. Balance an element of the unexpected with feminine flowing layers.

The pea coat
Cut precisely so as to trapeze out ever so flatteringly at the hips, the double-breasted pea coat gets an update via polished brass buttons.

The anorak
There’s a reason the ubiquitous khaki parka has staying power. Shrug an oversized style over denim for day or a silk slip for evening.

The cape
For sweeping panache, whirl on a fine wool cape; buttoned at the neck and falling from the shoulders, it’s particularly striking when dashing to make it to a show.

The Chubby
Whether it is tufted marabou feathers, Mongolian wool or shaggy faux fur, the key here is volume up top and skinny down below. Wear with wit.

Rosie.

I am feeling quite disconnected since moving in to my new house.. we still haven't got the internet connected. Sigh. It has actually been kind of nice not having to rely on the internet. Especially seeing neither my boyfriend nor I have iPhones. The only thing I miss is my blog... and everyone else's! But it has been fun setting up house. We now have a couch and a microwave, although I was quite happy without it! I am going this afternoon to check out the best rates for internet. So hopefully I'll be seeing you all again soon!

In the meantime, I leave you with this amazing editorial of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She is such a beauty. That bone structure, those lips. Amazing.

Weekend Road Trips.

My boyfriend and I decided to go on a little road trip over the weekend out to the Gold Coast's hinterland and then further into New South Wales. The scenery is so beautiful out that way and is a lovely escape from the busy Gold Coast! We even packed a picnic and stopped for scones. Yum. Its times like these when I re-appreciate how wonderful the Gold Coast (and its surrounds) truly are.

Moving House.

My boyfriend and I have just been approved for our first apartment together. How exciting! Unfortunately its not for another week to pick up the keys, but in the meantime I have been dreaming about how I would like to decorate it. Here are some little snippets of what I love for inspiration. Can you tell I love all white!? The apartment has dark wooden floors and high cathedral-like wooden ceilings and mostly white walls. Except for the main feature wall which is purple. Bright purple. Don't get me wrong, I love purple, but this wall might be a little bit tricky. I particularly love the cowhide rug and (fake) deer head, cabin type feel. However, we already have a lot of furniture stored, so we'll have to see what we need after setting the existing furniture. I can't wait for the much needed trip to Ikea!
